The First “Global Dance Challenge” in Vancouver

Begin of February 2017, the First “Global Dance Challenge” was inagurated by director Chan Hon Goh. The Jury President, Mr. Frank Andersen said:
“Life is a challenge, life is a competition – the better you are, the more possibilities are coming to you. I believe in giving young people a chance to rise in their life and in their work. I also believe that young people of today need to be challenged and encouraged and confronted with, what is waiting for them. This is why I find the initiative of „Global Dance Challenge” interesting and admirable. It is important constantly to seek new ways, new patterns, new platforms for the development of our art form - the Dance. In the past days, we have seen what this GDC can do. We have seen a tremendous amount of young people and young talent work very hard to strengten their skills and teknique and polishing their stage presence and performance. We shall see the outcome of their efforts later tonight. And again - life is a competition, but here at the GDC there is one important difference – here everybody is a winner. Here it is as much about the process, the nursing, the care, the encouragement and the development as it is about the winning. We want to see the dancers grow under professional guidance and nurturance. As President of the jury, it is my hope, that everybody on stage these past days, has felt that they have been and are a part of something very special and that they have accomplished something, that they shall be able to use the rest of their life."

The “Global Dance Challenge” International Competition aims to bring together some of the most outstanding young dancers from around the world and serve as an introduction to an international career.
